Umu Kuka (Cooking House) is a place where people gather to nourishing meals for families and communities. Our Umu Kuka Crew (Covid-10 Community health Workers gathered once a week (online and in-person) to learn, share, prepare, plan and rejuvenate.
NAOPO’s Umu Crew is a cohort of Pacific Islander community health workers (CHWs) from the US continent, Hawaii, and USAPI working together to support our Pasifika communities in accessing critical health provision that are linguistically and culturally responsive while working holistically to improve all social determinants of health which include: access to healthcare, housing, healthy foods, civic participation and more.
NAOPO will be coordinating our Umu Crew sessions starting November 17th with our Community Health Workers, CHWs, every month. For more information or questions about Umu Crew, please contact Liliane Ulukivaiola at lilianu@nao-po.org .
